Take a moment to stop and think about the strangers you have met throughout your life. You can’t really think of many, can you? In fact, your brain probably throws away information about strangers on a regular basis. The reason is simple: we can only really get to know about 150 people. That limit is called Dunbar’s Number and it was discovered by a British anthropologist named Robin Dunbar. Here is an easy to test the idea.
Think of all the people you can name whom you have interacted with on a regular basis for any length of time. After you list your close relatives and friends you may have named about 50 people. Beyond them will be some cousins, business associates, maybe some folks you run into at parties from time to time. You will be hard-pressed to name 150 people in your personal circle because we just don’t interact with that many people.
Now, try to think of someone you don’t know — not a celebrity whose career you follow, but someone whose name you barely remember. Why do you remember that person’s name? Is it an interesting name? Did you have a great conversation with that person? You could pick someone at random without any basis for choosing, like a guy named Dennis Tamburo and try to commit his name to memory. Maybe you’ll repeat it several times: Dennis Tamburo, Dennis Tamburo, Dennis Tamburo.
Nonetheless, despite your best efforts to remember the name of Dennis Tamburo it’s almost guaranteed that within a year you will have forgotten him. Why? Because you have no need to interact with him. He is not important to your survival. He is not an ally for you in life. He could be the nicest guy on Earth but because he is not part of your life you simply won’t remember him.
We do remember celebrities because they are not really people. They’re more like events or topics to study. If a guy like Dennis Tamburo were a celebrity people would know many things about him. Frankly, since he’s just some random dude plucked off the Web to help illustrate a point, neither of us is likely to remember him a year from now. There is a tender sadness in the thought, but at least we knew him for a moment. Together.
Can you believe the weather we had this year so far? I wonder if climate is really something we should worry about…seems like our summer season gets lower every year in my neck of the woods.
It’s hard to find the right stuff these days on the Internet. So many fake places spouting spammy nonsense. Here are my favorite (and REAL) resources so far:
Tilling
So many choices for a rototiller these days. Is it time for you to get a cultivator? Sometimes buying one is the right choice. You can get them from retail stores or online. The best place for cultivators that I found is the Rototiller Store. After browsing around for a couple minutes, I purchased my tiller in no time. View the site in a new window - just right click on the link and click ‘new window’. You can buy a rototiller in a store or online. They might end up cost about the same but one gets delivered right to your door. Great deal!

Hunky-dory! I’m out.
In a recent drive towards better implementation of eyecare regulations for saving the eyes of employees working on visual display units (VDUs), Specsavers Corporate Eyecare conducted comprehensive research and discovered that the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations are generally misconstrued by businesses on more than one count.
The research concluded that because of an ambiguous understanding of the law, not only is the standard of care provided low, but businesses end up spending more for no good reason. This not only risks the health of employees’ eyes but financially hits the businesses making use of VDUs. Employers need to keep themselves up to date with health and safety developments to avoid potential legal action from employers by taking a health and safety course such as the IOSH managing safely course from Workplace Law Training.
The Regulations mandate that employers provide for eye tests as well as glasses, if needed, to workers working on VDUs. A vast majority of employers, though aware of the Regulations, do not find them to be comprehensible, especially on the point of making payments for the glasses. Where around 90% of the employers think that they should provide for eye tests, 60% think that they should make contributions only for glasses, with around 20% believing that they can make payments only by choice.
The Regulations are clear on the compulsory provision of both eye tests and single vision glasses, but hardly 17% of employers think they are mandated to do so and another 25% are of the opinion that they should make payments for varifocal or bifocal spectacles, which might not be appropriate for the purpose.
Further, the employers are unaware of the fact that they can nominate eye specialists instead of allowing their employees to visit any specialist of their choice, which makes the whole affair more costly than it is meant to be. The research also revealed the fact that employers assume that the costs of such tests, along with glasses would be £50, though it might not even go over £20.

Any library is characterized by a soaring bookcase. books are safe and free from dirt and debris in a bookcase. A standardized bookshelf has horizontal shelves to keep publications. If you wish you can also have field glass doors to blanket these books and show the backs of the volumes for easy consultation.
Barristers or attorneys want to make use of several heavy and tremendous books in the course of their practice. the legal diaries are costly and lawyers demand to refer them frequently.Barrister bookcases are designed with the same role of keeping heavy reference manuals for attorneys. Oak and cherry wood is the favored choice for producing these lawyers bookcases in many finishes and chromaticities.
Books were not found commonly, so nobody thought of how to store them. books in past years were hand-handwritten only. These books were located in boxes by the well-heeled class. This is because books were very costly and only wealthy families could afford to purchase them and carry them while travelling. These containers served as a bookcase for them.
Soon lot of religious manuscripts and other such books were bought by the wealthy society. Thus the volumes had to be located within a cupboard. The bookshelves that we see Now are an offspring of these cupboards in the past, without the doors.
The books were arranged in a conventional way. They utilised to be piled upon each other on their sides or kept upright with their edges on the outside and the backs facing the wall. these volumes had a band produced from leather or lambskin as a cover that mentioned the title too. since this band had to be seen, the volumes were located with edges out.
anybody who liked reading could buy books due to the publishing innovation. printing created it manageable to have the title on the back and edges presenting inside.
Such cases were built of what cloths?
In the olden days, barrister bookcases were made of oak mainly. Other than that, maple, cherry and pine wood were also utilized for making a barrister bookcase. A steel barrister bookcase is long-lasting and low on maintenance too. Some of the oldest bookcases are in England in the Bodleian Library at Oxford University. they were kept in the library in the sixteenth century.
using tiny tablets covered in fretwork frames, Chippendale and Sheraton designed lovely bookcases. These bookcases indeed contributed to the elegance of the room.
Isnt it great to walk into the past of a barrister bookcase, which was once just a bookshelf?
Have you ever been caught in a moment where you look up at the sky, and you are just completely bedazzled by beauty and wonder what is really up there. I recently paid a visit to Italy and I was visiting a small village in the middle of Tuscany where there is hardly anything to do. A couple restaurants and some amazing people. One night as I was took a walk from the monastery down to the center of town, I was caught with this spectacular view of our sky. I guess, the reason why I never really took the time too look up and really look, and analyze what is up there it’s because back home I am always so busy and I had never seen such a clear, perfect view.
So I sat down right next to an olive tree and I spent a while, looking at all the contemplations that I learned someday about in my astrology class in community college. It really is breathtaking, If you are ever in this position, take advantage of it if you look close enough and have a little bit o knowledge on astrology, you can even get a glimpse of that tiny star that is called Mercury, the closest planet to the sun.
It ’s a great hobby and truly amazing.
There’s an ongoing debate over the effects of radio transmission waves emitted by wireless products and their effect upon people. Anecdotal evidence suggests that there is a strong link to the frequent use of cell phones and some very unpleasant health issues.
These concerns flow over to other radio devices too, and we, those that sell these items, are continually asked about the safety aspects of wireless headsets.
Well, are they safe to use all day, everyday?
Of course, the salesman’s answer is likely to be - yes! But absolutely, I do believe they are and would have no hesitation in wearing one myself (which I do), all day, everyday.
Plantronics claims that its CS50 wireless headset has an output of only 1.7 milliwatts, which is about 1/1000th of the output of most cell phones, and in nearly all countries, there are the relevant certification and other statutory requirements that have to be met before any items like these can be sold and connected.
Bluetooth models have an even lower output than DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) or 900 Mhz headsets.
I’ve never heard of any incidents or situations, where a wireless headset was implicated in anything connected with the same issues we hear about cell phones, i.e. cancers, etc. So, from my point of view I feel quite safe in using them, even in areas where there maybe several operating at the same time.
Perhaps some may suggest that they haven’t been in use long enough, to adequately gauge the level of threat, if indeed there is one. Anyway, I’m not concerned: I will not give mine up!
If you feel like doing your own research in this area, you could start by visiting the Plantronics website and downloading their white paper on the CS50.
On the other, non-technical side, there are the safety benefits that are reaped by not having wires. For a start you wont trip over or catch them on anything and I feel the ergonomics - where and how you sit at your desk while making phone calls may even be further improved by using a wireless.
This is because you don’t have the cable to think about at all - it’s not tugging or constraining you, so there’s no anxiety about whether you maybe stretching the cable too much. This consideration is important if you want to conserve your headset cables, as I’ve spoken about elsewhere regarding the care of cabled headsets.
There is also the advantage, however unlikely, during a lightning storm, or any other extreme electrical disturbance of not actually being connected to the telephone grid. You’re not liable to be used by Mother Nature as a conductor!
About the only thing that is not safer, is your bank balance, as dependant upon the country where you live, lashing out and buying a wireless headset is going to pinch your hip pocket nerve. But, if you’re serious about it and understand the benefits, you wont regret the purchase.
